Porsche Boxster and Cayman factory front engine mount bushings are particularly prone to cracking because of the large amount of voiding in the rubber material.  If left unchecked, the rubber will continue to wear and knocking sounds may appear as you accelerate, brake and turn. Gear changes also become sloppy and lose precision.

Unlike other urethane bushings using only one or two urethane grades, Powerflex design engineers choose the correct hardness to allow for the specific movement or rigidity required for each component while minimizing unwanted NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness).

Bushings are typically produced in one of three grades:

• Yellow (70-80A, approximately 25% stiffer than stock),
• Purple (80-90A, approximately 30% stiffer than stock), and
• Black (90-95A, approximately 80% stiffer than stock). = Race
