Project 981 Cayman - Build Series

Install

We wanted to upgrade the pads to something that could handle both spirited street driving and put up with the abuse of a high-speed track. We chose the EBC Yellowstuff pads as they are a great hybrid pad providing solid bite, livability on the street, and high-temp fade resistance.

The install is very straightforward on the 981 Cayman. The front calipers need to come off to swap the front pads, while the rears can just drop in from the top. Make sure to bleed your brakes after installing new pads!

We didn't bother recording a DIY as there are several good guides out there like this video:

Final Impressions

We really enjoy the EBC Yellowstuff pads both on street and track. We're looking forward to getting the Goodridge Stainless Steel brake lines on along with the proper Motul RBF600 brake fluid. It will absolutely make all the difference in the world on track. We did tweak up the JRZ coilovers on track but still have a lot of testing to dial them in more. We ended the day at 4 clicks compression & 7 clicks rebound in the front and 4 clicks compression & 6 clicks rebound in the rear. We think there's a lot of room to go there, but we'll see when we get a new set of wheels/tires on the vehicle. The Pirelli Pzeros did excellent for a street tire and the JRZ suspension was direct with great feedback.
