Project 981 Cayman - JRZ RS2 Touring Coilovers (Episode 10)
Project 981 Cayman - Build Series
Install
We decided to install the JRZ RS2 Touring Coilovers due to the superior engineering and quality of these hand built coilovers. The RS2 stands for double adjustable which provides an independent rebound and compression adjustment at all 4 corners.
Install is pretty straight forward just like any coilover system for the 981 Cayman / Boxster.
The 981 has a rubber top mount cover that can be easily removed by just squeezing the inside and pulling up. This provides easy access to the rebound adjustment in the front.
For the rear, we just used a dremel tool to cut a small ovalish hole in the top plastic covers to enable easy access to the rebound adjustment in the rear.

The compression adjusters can be accessed at the bottom of the shock. They are a larger dial and easy to reach and adjust. With the car being this low, it requires you to jack the car up but not an issue when at the track.
Final Impressions
We love the ride quality and feel of the JRZ RS2 Coilovers. We're even more excited to test their capability at the track. For the street we are running this set up:
- Front : 2 clicks compression / 4 clicks rebound
- Rear: 2 clicks compression / 3 clicks rebound
The car rotates very nicely with predictable balance. We would highly recommend this kit for those who want to improve the handling of their 981 and will likely do a few HPDEs and/or auto crosses a year.
