Project 981 Cayman - Baseline Dyno Runs (Episode 3)
Project 981 Cayman - Build Series
We took the Project 981 Cayman to the dyno to put down some baseline dyno runs. The numbers and power band were inline with our expectations. The temperature was 95F, so not ideal but we got two consistent runs back-to-back. The 2.7L put down a peak HP number of 229.6 HP @ the wheels. This represents a 16.5% drivetrain loss but remember all dynos read slightly different, so don't get too hung up on the numbers. The objective was to set a baseline number so we can track our progress with our different modifications.
Pulls were done in 3rd gear and 30 MPH represents approx 2000 RPMs. The fuel cut-off hit at 107 MPH which is right around 7850 RPMs. Power developed in a linear fashion with a slight falloff at the top of the rev range.
