Project 981 Cayman - Build Series

For those keeping track, we did install the GT4 Front Bumper but will wait to showcase that in our next installment. To keep with the aggressive theme, we opted to go with the BC Forged RZ05 Wheels. They are a monoblock 6061-T6 Aluminum material making them extremely strong and lightweight. The process is simple, you can easily order any BC Forged wheels through Flat 6 Motorsports. They have a wide range of offsets and options. Before the wheels are custom produced, BC Forged provides a nice engineering drawing showcasing the concavity of the wheel to get final customer approval.

We went with the matte black finish and a plain wheel center cap. The wheels fit with the OEM lug nuts but in the future, you might see some titanium variants showing up! 

Tire Selection:

We wanted a DOT approved street legal tire that was aggressive enough for track use. We opted for the Toyo 888R tires. On the street they do admit quite a bit more road noise compared to the OEM Pirelli P Zeros but the grip level is significantly upgraded. We'll reserve final judgement once we get back on the track with the Project 981 Cayman!

Unboxing:

The wheels come well packaged to ensure they don't get damaged from the shipping. They feature labels with the specifications on each box.

Final Impressions:

We love the look of the wheels and tires on the car. It gives it a more aggressive stature and looks great in our opinion. It's amazing how wheels can really transform the look of the car.
