Porsche 3.0L Engine

The Porsche 9A2 engine found in the 991.2 Carrera models is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six that marked a major shift in Porsche’s powertrain strategy. Introduced in 2016, it replaced the naturally aspirated 9A1 engines from the 991.1, bringing smaller displacement but significantly more torque and tuning potential thanks to forced induction. Built with an aluminum block and heads, integrated dry-sump lubrication, and direct fuel injection, the 9A2 blends modern efficiency with performance heritage. Depending on trim, output ranged from 370 hp in the base Carrera up to 450 hp in the Carrera GTS. The additon of twin-turbos and forged connecting rods and crank assembly not only improved acceleration and mid-range punch, but also opened the door for aftermarket tuners to extract large gains compared to earlier NA engines.
